About Mahira

Mahira is an initiative for women from marginalized homeless communities to help build their skills and entrepreneurial capabilities so that they can pull themselves and their families out of generational poverty. At Arshiya Foundation, we hope to achieve this by training women and providing them employable skills, providing access to entrepreneurship opportunities and mentoring them in the course of their work.

We bring you unique, handcrafted, in-vogue fashion accessories created by homeless women on the streets of Mumbai. By buying this product you have helped a marginalised woman move forward in lifting herself and her family out of poverty.

 

Goal

Our goal is to create high quality fashion accessories for our customers while ensuring safe and structured jobs and a steady income for the homeless women we work with.

We believe that by training and developing skills of homeless women and providing them access to market, will help create sustainable livelihoods, build financial stability, and encourage economic justice for these marginalized women from homeless communities.

We believe this will create an opportunity for them to exit the vicious cycle of homelessness and intergenerational poverty.

 

Our solution

Beneficiaries and Customers

Homeless women:
Our main beneficiaries are the women who through this venture will receive a stable income that will be over half of their husbands’ average incomes thereby increasing their overall family income.

Customers:
We offer to our customers, good quality, trendy, reasonable priced and unique fashion accessories that they could use themselves or gift it to someone. Our customers would be our supporters or ambassadors for the noble cause of combatting homelessness.
